The Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) has commenced enforcement of the 2026 parking permit regulations across its operational zones in Lagos State, as part of efforts to ensure compliance with approved parking regulations, promote accountability and strengthen the effective management of parking activities across the State.
The General Manager of LASPA, Mrs. Adebisi Adelabu, who disclosed this today, said the commencement of the enforcement exercise marks the end of the prolonged grace period granted to customers to regularise their operations and obtain their 2026 parking permits. She noted that the extension was intended to provide sufficient opportunity for all affected customers to meet their obligations and comply with the requirements of the Authority. Adelabu expressed concern that a significant number of customers were yet to obtain their permits despite several appeals, direct communications, reminders and the extended grace period.
According to her, the enforcement is aimed at ensuring compliance with the laws governing the transport sector while streamlining parking management across Lagos. She explained that LASPA had earlier distributed the 2026 Demand Notices to all registered customers, clearly stating the applicable fees, requirements and procedures for obtaining the permits, and urged those yet to regularise their operations to do so immediately to avoid sanctions for continued non-compliance.
Adelabu emphasised that the enforcement exercise was not intended to be punitive but was necessary to restore order, accountability and efficiency within Lagos’ parking ecosystem. She noted that valid parking permits and accurate customer records are essential for LASPA to effectively plan, monitor, regulate and manage parking infrastructure and services across the State. She further disclosed that defaulting customers listed on the 2026 Demand Notices would be liable to severe penalties, including substantial fines and immediate suspension of operations, in accordance with the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law, 2018.
The General Manager assured customers that LASPA personnel remain available to provide swift assistance and guidance, including support with the Authority’s online payment and registration portals. While reaffirming LASPA’s commitment to developing an efficient and sustainable parking system for residents, businesses and visitors to Lagos State, Adelabu appealed to members of the public to cooperate with enforcement officers and report unauthorised parking activities to the Authority.
