The Lagos State Resilience Office (LASRO) has commenced the 2026 cycle of its Business Continuity Plan (BCP) initiative, beginning with Lagos Ferry Services (LAGFERRY) as part of efforts to strengthen resilience across the State’s Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
The exercise marks the fifth phase of the State’s BCP programme, which will onboard four new MDAs and conduct tabletop testing exercises with 16 existing MDAs to assess their readiness to respond to unforeseen disruptions.
The initiative is designed to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of critical public services during emergencies, including waterway incidents, road accidents, severe flooding and disease outbreaks. Representing LASRO’s Chief Resilience Officer, Dr. Folayinka Dania, Tpl. Dada Olufemi Michael and his technical team met with LAGFERRY management to commence the tailored continuity framework.
The Director of Public Affairs, LAGFERRY, who represented the MD/CEO, Dr. Abdoulbaq Ladi Balogun, welcomed the LASRO delegation and reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to building a resilient water transportation system across Lagos.
Speaking at the session, Tpl. Dada said the BCP initiative was informed by lessons from major disruptions, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the EndSARS unrest. He stressed the need for formal and comprehensive continuity structures capable of addressing both maritime risks and wider emergencies.
The meeting also marked the commencement of LAGFERRY’s Business Impact Analysis (BIA) workshop, which will identify critical operations, assess risks and vulnerabilities, review emergency protocols and strengthen the agency’s preparedness for disruptions.
Both agencies reaffirmed their commitment to collaboration in strengthening the resilience and continuity of public transportation services across Lagos State.
