The Lagos State Resilience Office (LASRO), in partnership with the Resilient Cities Network and ARUP, has organised a community engagement workshop in Ajegunle-Ikorodu aimed at strengthening grassroots participation in resilience planning and fostering inclusive solutions to local challenges.
The workshop brought together community leaders, residents and development partners to identify key resilience achievements and challenges, validate local experiences, and explore practical strategies to improve the community’s ability to withstand shocks and stresses.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Resilience Officer of LASRO, Dr Folayinka Dania, represented by Assistant Director of Town Planning, Tpl. Olufemi Dada, stressed the importance of community involvement in building resilient neighbourhoods. He encouraged residents to share their experiences and insights to support the design of sustainable resilience interventions.
Through interactive discussions and participatory exercises, participants identified major social, environmental and infrastructural issues affecting the community and proposed solutions tailored to local needs.
The workshop ended with a renewed commitment from LASRO, the Resilient Cities Network, ARUP and community stakeholders to strengthen collaboration and implement initiatives that will enhance the Ajegunle-Ikorodu Community’s capacity to anticipate, withstand and recover from future challenges.
