LIRS Extends Deadline for Filing Individual Tax Returns to April 14, 2026

The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) has extended the deadline for filing individual annual tax returns to Tuesday, April 14, 2026, giving taxpayers an additional two weeks beyond the original statutory deadline.

The announcement was made by Monsurat Amasa-Oyelude, Head of Corporate Communications. LIRS Executive Chairman, Dr Ayodele Subair, explained that the extension is to allow taxpayers more time to prepare and file returns accurately.

He reiterated that while the statutory deadline remains March 31, the grace period is to ease compliance and emphasized that electronic filing via the LIRS eTax platform is now mandatory. Manual submissions have been fully discontinued.

Taxpayers are advised to ensure their Tax Identification Number (TaxID) is correctly entered and can seek assistance at any LIRS office or through official channels.
