The Lagos State Materials Testing Laboratory (LSMTL) has secured full accreditation from the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) to conduct materials testing and certify the integrity of infrastructure across Lagos State and beyond for the next five years.
The accreditation followed an inspection of the agency’s facilities, including its Soil and Geotechnical, Concrete, Steel and Chemical laboratories, as well as the Technical Services Department.
Following the assessment, the COREN inspection team awarded LSMTL a score of 95 out of 100, confirming the agency’s capacity to undertake a wide range of materials testing in line with established engineering standards.
The accreditation marks a significant milestone in LSMTL’s efforts to strengthen quality assurance, uphold professional standards and provide reliable testing services to support safe and sustainable infrastructure development.
Speaking on the achievement, the General Manager of LSMTL, Engr. Olayinka Abdul, expressed delight over the accreditation and reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to international best practices in promoting safety within the built environment and protecting infrastructure across the state.
She also appreciated Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, for their continued support towards strengthening the agency and ensuring a safe and secure environment for residents.
