A major fire broke out Friday night at a government building in Gambir, Central Jakarta, damaging floors 11 through 16.
The fire was reported at around 9:30 p.m. local time, prompting a rapid response from firefighters. Dozens of fire engines and nearly 200 personnel were deployed to battle the blaze.
Officials said the fire is believed to have started on the 11th floor, which was undergoing renovation at the time of the incident.
One renovation worker was rescued from the 15th floor and transported to a hospital for medical attention.
Firefighters eventually brought the blaze under control, with operations entering the cooling phase early Saturday morning to prevent the fire from reigniting.
Authorities are expected to investigate the cause of the incident and assess the extent of the damage to the affected government facility.
