The presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Seyi Makinde, has selected former Director-General of the State Security Service (SSS), Lawal Daura, as his running mate for the 2027 presidential election.
Daura, who served as SSS Director-General from 2015 to 2018, was announced as Makinde’s running mate during the APM national convention in Bauchi on Thursday.
According to a statement by the Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade, Makinde chose the former intelligence chief because of his experience and to help address Nigeria’s security challenges.
Makinde, who was formally elected as the APM presidential candidate at the convention, also pledged to work with like-minded politicians to improve the country and lift millions of Nigerians out of poverty.
The development comes as political parties intensify preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
