Nigeria’s malaria prevention efforts have received a major boost following the commencement of operations at Health Textiles Nigeria FZE, a new local facility manufacturing next-generation insecticide-treated mosquito nets.
The Federal Government described the development as a significant milestone in strengthening Nigeria’s health security, creating jobs and unlocking the healthcare value chain.
The facility, established through a partnership between Vestergaard and the Presidential Initiative for Unlocking the Healthcare Value Chain, will manufacture dual-active ingredient mosquito nets designed to combat insecticide resistance.
At full capacity, the facility is expected to produce approximately 10 million mosquito nets annually and create more than 600 jobs. It has already recruited about 80 employees undergoing training in manufacturing, quality control, occupational safety and regulatory compliance.
The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, said local production would strengthen domestic manufacturing capacity and contribute to a more resilient healthcare system.
The Federal Government reaffirmed its commitment to supporting investments, technology transfer and strategic partnerships that will improve access to essential health products in line with the Renewed Hope Health Agenda.
