United States Olympic champion Masai Russell has broken Tobi Amusan’s women’s 100m hurdles world record at the Zurich Diamond League.
Russell clocked an astonishing 12.09 seconds to lower Amusan’s previous world record of 12.12 seconds, set at the 2022 World Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
The record-breaking performance came in a thrilling night of athletics at Zurich’s Letzigrund Stadium, with a sell-out crowd of 25,000 watching.
Russell’s feat earned her an $80,000 prize for breaking the world record.
Amusan, who had been aiming for a strong performance in Zurich after winning bronze at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, now sees her four-year-old world record surpassed.
