In June, Lionel Messi became emotional after scoring for Argentina against Algeria at the World Cup and revealed that he had been going through difficult personal days, prompting speculation about his father’s health.
The Messi family later confirmed that Jorge was undergoing medical supervision and recovering, while appealing for privacy and respect regarding the family matter. Lionel Messi also missed the MLS All-Star Game in late July, with reports suggesting he had travelled to spend time with his father.
