Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has flagged off the construction of the 19.7-kilometre Mangu Bypass, describing the project as a strategic investment that will decongest Mangu town, improve connectivity and transform the area into a major economic hub.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, the governor said the bypass is part of his administration’s infrastructure renewal agenda aimed at attracting investment, promoting tourism, creating jobs and supporting sustainable urban development across the state.
Mutfwang noted that the project, originally conceived by the previous administration, was reviewed and expanded to meet modern engineering standards and align with Plateau State’s long-term development plan.
He urged residents and investors to avoid developing properties along the designated road corridor, stressing that the area has been reserved for planned urban expansion.
Commissioner for Works, Ubandoma Joshua Laven, disclosed that the project was upgraded from 14 kilometres to 19.7 kilometres, featuring three major bridges, reinforced road construction, improved drainage and provisions for future dualisation.
According to him, the road is designed to international standards with an expected lifespan of over 20 years and will enhance transportation, ease the movement of agricultural produce and unlock new economic opportunities across Plateau State.
