The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified efforts to support the rescue of schoolchildren and teachers abducted from communities in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State by deploying aerial surveillance assets to assist ongoing search-and-rescue operations.
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, disclosed that the Air Force swiftly deployed a surveillance platform immediately after the abduction was reported, providing critical intelligence that has helped security agencies track developments and coordinate rescue efforts.
The governor commended the Chief of the Air Staff and the Nigerian Air Force for their prompt response and continued support, assuring residents that all necessary resources are being deployed to secure the safe return of the victims.
The abducted pupils and teachers were taken during an attack on schools in Yawota and Esiele communities on May 15, an incident that sparked widespread concern and calls for urgent action across the country.
NAF has reaffirmed its commitment to working with other security agencies and stakeholders to safeguard lives and support efforts to address security challenges nationwide.
