The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Joint Campus Council in Lagos State has elected a new chairman following a tense 5–5 tie in the chairmanship race on Saturday. The deadlock was broken when convention chairman Sanni Sulaimon cast the deciding vote, declaring Ridwan Ajayi as the winner.
The election, held at the Federal College of Education (Technical), Akoka, saw active participation from delegates across Lagos State’s tertiary institutions and was described by observers as orderly, transparent, and credible.
Security personnel, including the Department of State Services and officers from Sabo Police Station, were on hand to maintain order during the process.
The statement announcing Ajayi’s victory highlighted expectations for a new era of inclusive governance, effective student representation, and strengthened advocacy under his leadership.
