The Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) BEECROFT has handed over 756 kilograms of cannabis sativa seized during a series of intelligence-led operations to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Lagos.
The illicit drugs, packed in 18 bags, were intercepted at Abule Osun, Ikare Island, and Alpha Beach between April and July 2026 through coordinated maritime surveillance operations.
Commander of NNS BEECROFT, Commodore Aiwuyor Adams-Aliu, said the successful seizures were made possible by the Navy’s advanced Falcon Eye maritime surveillance system, which enhances monitoring across Nigeria’s coastal waters and supports intelligence-driven operations against maritime crimes.
Receiving the exhibits, the NDLEA Marine Command commended the Nigerian Navy for its continued partnership and commitment to combating illicit drug trafficking.
The Navy reaffirmed its resolve to strengthen collaboration with security agencies and sustain operations aimed at protecting Nigeria’s maritime domain from criminal activities.
