The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of allegedly replacing candidates nominated by the party for the 2027 elections with individuals it described as “strange names.”
NDC National Chairman, Senator Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe, made the allegation while reacting to INEC’s recently published list of candidates for the State Houses of Assembly elections.
Zuwoghe claimed the alleged irregularities were particularly pronounced in Anambra State, where he said 10 individuals were listed as NDC candidates without the party’s authorisation.
He maintained that the affected individuals did not emerge from the party’s nomination process and alleged that INEC officials bypassed the party by collecting nomination forms directly from the disputed candidates.
The NDC chairman described the development as an attempt to undermine the party ahead of the 2027 elections and called on INEC to urgently investigate the matter.
He said the party had also commenced its own investigation and would pursue legal action if necessary to restore what it described as its authentic candidates.
