The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has commenced the disbursement of June and July upkeep allowances to student beneficiaries nationwide, bringing relief after weeks of complaints over delayed payments.
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) confirmed the development on Friday, while several beneficiaries shared screenshots of successful credit alerts on X, indicating that payments are already being processed.
NANS National President, Akinteye Babatunde, assured students that all outstanding allowances would be cleared, stressing that no eligible beneficiary would be left behind.
He explained that the disbursement is being carried out in batches and urged students yet to receive their allowances to remain patient, reaffirming the association’s commitment to protecting the welfare and interests of Nigerian students.
The monthly upkeep allowance forms part of the Federal Government’s NELFUND student loan programme, which provides financial support to eligible tertiary institution students alongside tuition payments made directly to their institutions.
