The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed Augustine Eguavoen as interim head coach of the Super Falcons, with the former Super Eagles coach set to lead the team in their 2028 Olympic qualifying campaign.
Eguavoen will oversee the Falcons’ second-round, two-legged qualifier against Comoros in October, with both matches scheduled to take place at Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne-Remo, on October 9 and 13.
He will be assisted by Christopher Danjuma, head coach of Nasarawa Amazons, alongside former Super Falcons defender Ayisat Yusuf and former Super Eagles goalkeeper trainer Olatunji Baruwa.
Eguavoen’s appointment comes weeks after the NFF sacked Justine Madugu and his technical crew following the Super Falcons’ failure to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, ending Nigeria’s record of appearing at every edition since the tournament began in 1991.
