The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has denied reports claiming that it called for the resignation of FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
In a statement posted on X on Saturday, the NFF described the reports, particularly those circulating on social media, as false and urged the public to disregard them.
The football body said it has neither called for nor is currently asking Infantino to step down as FIFA president.
The clarification comes as Infantino faces pressure over controversial proposals to sell stakes in the World Cup to private investors. He has apologised for what he described as errors in the proposals but retained the backing of senior FIFA executives.
While some European teams have threatened to boycott FIFA events over unresolved concerns, the South American football confederation CONMEBOL and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) have expressed support for Infantino.
