Nigeria has called for deeper collaboration with Germany in economic development, security, renewable energy, digital innovation and regional peace as both countries move to strengthen their longstanding bilateral relationship.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, made the call while receiving Germany’s Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs, Johann Wadephul, and his delegation during a bilateral meeting in Abuja.
She described Germany as one of Nigeria’s key strategic partners in Europe, noting that cooperation between both countries has expanded beyond diplomacy to include trade, investment, education, renewable energy, science and technology, migration, peace and security.
Odumegwu-Ojukwu urged increased German investment in priority sectors such as renewable energy, manufacturing, agriculture, digital technology, critical minerals, healthcare and infrastructure, while also calling for stronger collaboration in education, research, innovation and vocational training.
She commended Germany’s continued support for Nigeria’s development and ECOWAS, stressing that stronger international partnerships are vital in addressing terrorism, violent extremism, climate change, food insecurity and economic challenges across West Africa.
The minister reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and expressed optimism that the discussions would produce practical outcomes that benefit both countries.
