Nigeria and Somalia are exploring ways to deepen bilateral relations and expand cooperation in key sectors, including education, security, trade and investment, diaspora management, culture and the creative economy.
The discussions took place in Mogadishu during the presentation of copies of Letters of Credence by Nigeria’s Ambassador-designate to Kenya, with concurrent accreditation to Somalia, Danlami Ibrahim, to Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdisalam Abdi Ali.
According to Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, both officials discussed opportunities to strengthen bilateral cooperation, with particular emphasis on initiatives that could promote regional stability, economic growth and stronger people-to-people relations.
The ministry said the two countries identified education, security, trade and investment, diaspora affairs, culture and the creative economy as priority areas for enhanced collaboration.
The engagement reflects Nigeria’s continued efforts to strengthen diplomatic and economic partnerships across Africa while advancing shared interests in security, development and regional prosperity.
