The Nigerian Navy has disrupted an attempt to smuggle foreign rice into the country and handed over 364 bags of the seized commodity to the Nigeria Customs Service.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts by the Navy to tackle cross-border smuggling and prevent the illegal movement of goods through Nigeria’s waterways and borders.
The seized rice was transferred to the Customs Service for further investigation and necessary action in line with established procedures.
The Navy reaffirmed its commitment to supporting other security and revenue-generating agencies in the fight against smuggling and other forms of cross-border criminal activity.
It also urged members of the public to support security agencies by providing useful information on suspected smuggling activities.
