A Nigerian computer scientist, Atte Ayodeji, has won the Best Innovative Technology Award after developing an artificial intelligence algorithm capable of detecting, counting, grouping, and generating healthy hair follicles during hair transplant procedures.
The innovation is expected to improve the precision and efficiency of hair transplant treatments, highlighting the growing role of artificial intelligence in advancing modern healthcare.
Ayodeji also graduated with a Distinction in his Master of Science (MSc) in Computer Science from Birmingham City University, capping an outstanding academic year marked by research excellence and innovation.
In addition to his award-winning hair transplant technology, the Nigerian researcher developed a framework based on Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) to enhance transparency and accountability in the diagnosis of lung cancer, enabling healthcare professionals to better understand AI-assisted clinical decisions.
His achievements underscore the increasing contributions of Nigerian researchers to global technological innovation, particularly in the application of artificial intelligence to solve complex healthcare challenges.
