The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast a mix of sunshine, cloudy conditions, and thunderstorms across the country from Sunday to Tuesday, with moderate rainfall expected in several states.
According to the agency’s latest weather outlook, the northern region will experience mostly sunny skies with patches of clouds, while thunderstorms accompanied by moderate rainfall are expected in parts of Taraba, Adamawa, Kaduna, Borno, Bauchi, Gombe, Jigawa, Katsina, and Kano.
In the North-Central region, thunderstorms and moderate rains are forecast for parts of Plateau, Niger, Nasarawa, Kogi, Benue, and the Federal Capital Territory, particularly during the afternoon and evening.
For the southern region, NiMet predicted moderate rainfall in states including Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Bayelsa, with widespread thunderstorms expected later in the day throughout the forecast period.
The agency advised residents to take necessary precautions, warning that strong winds could precede rainfall in areas likely to experience thunderstorms. It also urged the public to secure loose objects and remain alert to changing weather conditions.
