Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has officially flagged off the pilot phase of the Adopt-A-School PBAT Feeds Programme, tagged “Snacks for Thought,” while calling on the private sector to partner with government in supporting public primary schools across the state.
The launch took place at the Lagos Island East Local Council Development Area (LCDA) as part of efforts to improve child nutrition, enhance learning outcomes, and strengthen human capital development.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. ‘Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, Governor Sanwo-Olu described the initiative as a transformative partnership under the Renewed Hope National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme, stressing that no child should be denied the opportunity to learn because of hunger.
He said the programme reflects the shared commitment of the Federal Government, the Lagos State Government, and the private sector to securing a brighter future for Nigerian children.
According to the governor, the initiative goes beyond providing meals for pupils, serving instead as a movement aimed at ensuring every child has the opportunity to succeed academically while encouraging all stakeholders to invest in the nation’s future through education.
Sanwo-Olu commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for prioritising education, nutrition, and human capital development under the Renewed Hope Agenda, and also praised First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu for her continued advocacy for children, women, and other vulnerable groups.
He noted that well-nourished pupils are more likely to attend school regularly, participate actively in class, and achieve better educational outcomes.
The governor added that the programme will also stimulate local economic growth by creating opportunities for farmers, food processors, caterers, and other small businesses through local food sourcing, thereby strengthening agricultural value chains.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to education under the THEMES+ Agenda, Sanwo-Olu highlighted ongoing investments in modern classrooms, teacher capacity development, digital learning infrastructure, school health programmes, and improved learning environments.
He urged corporate organisations, financial institutions, professional associations, charitable foundations, faith-based organisations, alumni groups, and well-meaning individuals to embrace the Adopt-A-School initiative, describing it as a strategic investment in the future workforce and economic prosperity of Lagos State and Nigeria.
Expressing optimism that every public primary school in Lagos would eventually have a committed partner, the governor also unveiled the Adopt-A-School Dashboard, a digital platform designed to enhance transparency, accountability, and public confidence.
The dashboard enables sponsors to identify schools, monitor project implementation, and track the impact of their interventions in real time. Prospective partners were encouraged to register through the programme’s QR code and actively support public schools across the state.
Sanwo-Olu assured stakeholders that the Lagos State Government would continue to provide an enabling environment for successful partnerships while ensuring accountability and measurable outcomes.
He also encouraged pupils to remain focused and hopeful, reminding them that their current circumstances do not determine their future, and that among them are future doctors, engineers, entrepreneurs, governors, and presidents.
During the event, the governor received the Community Impact Award in recognition of his leadership and support for the Adopt-A-School Programme/PBAT Feeds “Snacks for Thought” initiative.
The ceremony also featured the unveiling of the School Adoption Platform, demonstrating its technology-driven framework for transparency and accountability.
The launch marked the beginning of a nationwide call for collaboration among governments, businesses, development partners, and citizens to ensure that no child attends school hungry in Lagos and across Nigeria.
