Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, have arrested a 32-year-old man, Adetokunbo Adeshina, over alleged phone extortion and threats against members of the public.
The Command’s spokesperson, ASC I Ayoola Michael Shola, said the suspect was apprehended following multiple complaints from victims who alleged that he routinely made threatening phone calls demanding money and warning of violent attacks if his demands were not met.
According to the NSCDC, the latest case involved a complainant, whose identity was withheld for security reasons, from whom the suspect allegedly demanded ₦500,000 while threatening to attack him, his family and his business if the payment was not made.
Following the complaints, operatives of the Command launched an intelligence-led investigation that traced the suspect to Ibadan, Oyo State, where he was arrested.
The NSCDC said investigations are ongoing and reaffirmed its commitment to protecting residents from criminal activities, urging members of the public to report suspicious persons and extortion attempts to security agencies.
