The daughter of veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has debunked reports claiming that the 66-year-old actor has died.
The death rumour circulated on social media on Tuesday after a Facebook user claimed that Ogogo’s daughter, Haleemah Taiwo, had announced his death.
However, another of the actor’s daughters, Lima Taiwo, dismissed the report as false in a post on Instagram, urging the public to stop spreading the unverified claim.
“This is false! This is fake. Please stop spreading fake news,” she wrote.
The clarification came a day after Lima and her sister, Kira Taiwo, made separate emotional appeals for medical assistance for their father, who is battling stage four cancer.
In a video shared on Instagram on Monday, Lima said the actor’s condition had deteriorated and alleged that some hospitals had declined to continue his treatment.
She appealed to medical professionals, hospitals and individuals with access to cancer treatment facilities to assist the family, stressing that they were seeking medical help rather than financial donations.
Kira, in a separate video, disclosed that Ogogo’s cancer had reached stage four and said the hospital treating him had informed the family that chemotherapy could no longer be administered.
She appealed to cancer specialists and other medical professionals with possible treatment options to come forward and assist the actor.
