The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has officially unveiled Alhaja Kudirat Abiodun Adegunwa-Balogun as his running mate for the 2027 gubernatorial election.
The unveiling took place on Sunday at the APC State Secretariat along Abiola Way in Abeokuta, with party leaders, stakeholders, and government officials in attendance.
Among those present were Governor Dapo Abiodun, APC State Chairman Chief Yemisi Sanusi, Senator Gbenga Kaka, Senator Akin Odunsi, and other prominent party figures.
Adegunwa-Balogun, who hails from Ososa in Ogun East Senatorial District, is the daughter of renowned businessman, philanthropist, and industrialist, Alhaji Sulaiman Adebola Adegunwa.
Speaking at the event, Senator Adeola described his running mate as a disciplined, upright, and experienced professional who shares his vision for the continued development of Ogun State.
He noted that her selection followed extensive consultations with party stakeholders and leaders across the state, emphasizing that the decision was made in the overall interest of the party and the people of Ogun State.
According to Adeola, the partnership is aimed at consolidating on the achievements of the current administration while driving greater development and prosperity across the state.
The unveiling comes barely two months after Adeola emerged as the APC’s consensus governorship candidate and was subsequently ratified through a direct primary election conducted across the state’s 236 wards.
Following a motion moved by Governor Dapo Abiodun for her adoption as deputy governorship candidate, party stakeholders unanimously endorsed Adegunwa-Balogun through a voice vote, formally making her the APC vice-governorship candidate for the 2027 election.
