Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has called for the immediate rescue of pupils, students, and teachers abducted by armed criminals in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Ezechi Chukwu, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation described the abduction as a barbaric attack on innocent children, education, and the future of the nation.
Ohanaeze expressed deep concern over the incident and condemned the killing of teachers during and after the attack, describing it as a tragic violation of the sanctity of human life.
President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Senator Azuta Mbata, said the abduction of children from schools represents an assault on the hopes of families and the country’s collective future.
“No society can make meaningful progress when its children live in fear and its schools become targets of violence. The immediate rescue of these innocent children and their teachers must be treated as a national priority,” he stated.
The organisation also extended solidarity to the affected families and the Government of Oyo State, while urging security agencies and relevant authorities to intensify efforts to secure the safe release of all victims and bring those responsible to justice.
