Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has threatened to arrest the contractor handling a section of the Benin-Abraka Road over the alleged abandonment of the project.
The governor made the statement during his tour of Orhionmwon and Uhunmwode Local Government Areas, where he met with members of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Okpebholo said the road was awarded to two contractors under the previous administration, with one section reportedly about 75 per cent complete. He alleged that the other contractor abandoned its section despite receiving payment.
The governor said contractual agreements inherited from the previous administration had limited his ability to intervene directly but assured residents that he would address the condition of the road.
