The Office of Local Government Establishments and Training (OLGE&T) has commenced a two-day Induction Programme for newly appointed Principal Officers in the Unified Local Government Service.
The programme, being held at the Office Training School, First Secretariat, Ikeja, brings together newly appointed Council Managers, Council Treasurers and Human Resources Officers from local government councils across Lagos State.
The induction is designed to familiarise the officers with their responsibilities, administrative procedures and operational expectations within the Unified Local Government Service. It also provides an opportunity for participants to gain a clearer understanding of the policies and guidelines governing local government administration.
The programme is expected to strengthen the capacity of the newly appointed officers and equip them with the knowledge and skills required to effectively discharge their duties. Emphasis is also being placed on professionalism, accountability and efficient service delivery at the grassroots level.
Through the initiative, OLGE&T aims to promote effective coordination and improved administrative practices across local government institutions, while ensuring that the new Principal Officers are adequately prepared to contribute to the delivery of quality services to residents.
The two-day programme will feature induction sessions and other capacity-building activities aimed at enhancing the officers’ understanding of their roles and responsibilities within the Unified Local Government Service.
