The Chief of Defence Staff, Olufemi Oluyede, has arrived in Zamfara State for his maiden operational visit to the headquarters of the Northwest Joint Task Force, Operation Fansan Yamma, in Gusau.
On arrival, the Defence Chief was received by the Theatre Commander, Warrah Idris, alongside other senior military officers.
General Oluyede inspected a quarter guard before proceeding to the Theatre Command’s conference room for a closed-door operational briefing on ongoing security activities in the region.
As part of the visit, he is expected to address troops deployed under Operation Fansan Yamma and later hold a strategic meeting with the Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal.
The visit underscores ongoing efforts by Nigeria’s military leadership to strengthen operational effectiveness and tackle security challenges in the Northwest.
