A 22-year-old woman has been killed and five other people injured in a shooting at an event in the northern Swiss town of Aarau, police have said.
The incident reportedly occurred during a rave in the early hours of Sunday, with some of the injured said to be in serious condition.
Police said they received reports of “night-time shots” in the Schachen area of Aarau, the capital of the northern Swiss canton of Aargau, triggering a major security operation.
Authorities cordoned off several areas, including a local horse racing track, swimming pool and sports field, as officers searched for the suspected shooter.
Members of the public were urged to avoid the area while the police operation continued.
The motive for the shooting and the identity and whereabouts of the suspect remain unclear.
