Normal flight operations have resumed at Terminal 2 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, following a fire incident that triggered an emergency response by aviation authorities on Sunday.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) confirmed that its Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Service (ARFFS) responded swiftly to the incident, successfully containing the fire and preventing it from spreading to other parts of the terminal.
According to FAAN, emergency personnel were immediately deployed to safeguard passengers, airport staff and critical infrastructure within the terminal.
The authority also confirmed that no casualties or injuries were recorded during the incident.
In a follow-up statement, FAAN announced that normal operations had been fully restored, with passenger processing and flight activities continuing as scheduled.
The agency assured the travelling public that safety remains its top priority and stated that further information would be released as investigations into the cause of the fire progress.
The Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Nigeria’s busiest aviation hub, serves thousands of domestic and international passengers daily, making the swift restoration of operations crucial to maintaining seamless air travel.
