The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the commencement of Permanent Voter Card (PVC) distribution ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.
In a statement issued by the State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola, the commission said the exercise is for eligible voters who registered, applied for transfer of registration, requested replacement of lost or damaged PVCs, or updated their records during the recently concluded Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
According to the REC, PVCs will be distributed across the state’s 332 registration areas from Wednesday, July 22, to Tuesday, July 28, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. daily, including weekends.
She added that the exercise will continue at INEC Local Government Area offices from Wednesday, July 29, to Friday, August 7, also between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. daily.
Babalola emphasized that the collection of PVCs is strictly personal, warning that proxy collection is prohibited and constitutes an offence under the Electoral Act.
She urged all eligible voters to take advantage of the exercise and collect their PVCs before the deadline, noting that the Permanent Voter Card remains the only valid means of accreditation for voting on election day.
