The Osun State Police Command has summoned Senator Francis Fadahunsi over an alleged comment calling on supporters of the All Progressives Congress to “kill” members of the rival Accord Party ahead of the state governorship election.
The alleged statement was contained in a video circulating on social media, reportedly recorded during an APC campaign in Ilesa on Tuesday. Fadahunsi, who represents Osun East Senatorial District, was said to have made the remarks in Yoruba.
In a letter dated August 11, 2026, and signed by the Commissioner of Police, Elections, Osun State, Samuel Etaifo Erale, the police directed the senator to appear before the State Criminal Investigation Department in Osogbo at 11am on Wednesday, August 12.
The command said the invitation followed information alleging that Fadahunsi made statements considered threatening, inciting and intimidating during the campaign.
The police also noted that the alleged remarks had been widely circulated across electronic and social media platforms.
However, Fadahunsi has denied making the statement as portrayed, claiming that his words were taken out of context. He also alleged that the video circulating online was generated using artificial intelligence.
The senator is expected to clarify the circumstances surrounding the video and the alleged comments when he appears before the police.
