The distribution of sensitive materials for the 2026 Osun State Governorship Election has commenced across the state, with election officials collecting materials and moving to their designated polling units ahead of Saturday’s poll.
A total of 2,339,233 registered voters are expected to participate in the election, with candidates from 15 political parties on the ballot.
At the CAC Grammar School registration centre in Araromi, Osogbo, polling officers were already positioned to receive materials and proceed to their assigned locations.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said it successfully printed millions of ballot papers and result sheets within 36 hours, following a court judgment directing the inclusion of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate, Francis Ajala, and his running mate, Faseke Oladipo, on the ballot.
INEC National Commissioner supervising Osun State, Kunle Ajayi, said the late court decision required the commission to adjust its preparations but did not disrupt its logistical arrangements.
According to Ajayi, the sensitive materials were moved to the Central Bank and subsequently distributed to all 30 Local Government Areas in the state without any major hitch.
He also dismissed reports that the ballot papers were printed outside Nigeria, explaining that INEC has relied on reputable local printers for sensitive election materials since the 2023 elections.
INEC has assured voters and stakeholders of its readiness for a smooth and credible election.
