The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has confirmed that the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration deadline is February 26, 2026, warning that no extensions will be granted.
In a notice released on Tuesday, JAMB stated:
- The sale of e-PINs, required for registration, will end at midnight on Thursday, February 26, 2026.
- Registration at accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres for candidates who have purchased e-PINs will close on Saturday, February 28, 2026.
As of February 17, more than 1.5 million candidates have successfully registered nationwide. Despite this high number, JAMB noted that registration centres are operating at only 30% of their daily capacity, meaning many eligible candidates have yet to complete registration. The Board has the capacity to register 100,000 candidates daily, far exceeding current turnout.
JAMB emphasized that its UTME schedule is part of a nationally coordinated examination calendar and that no extensions are possible. Candidates are urged to avoid last-minute registration to prevent unnecessary complications.
The Board described the early warning as a proactive measure to ensure no serious candidate misses the examination due to procrastination.
