The All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) have expressed confidence that they will meet the August 8 deadline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for uploading the names of their governorship and State House of Assembly candidates to the INEC Candidate Nomination Portal (ICNP) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The APC has already commenced the digital upload of its candidates, while the PDP and LP said they have concluded arrangements to complete the process within the timeframe.
Checks at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja showed that the party’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) department began processing candidates’ documents on Saturday to ensure compliance with the electoral timetable.
The ruling party is prioritising the upload of 16 incumbent governors seeking second-term re-election, alongside 12 first-time governorship candidates, including Lagos governorship candidate Obafemi Hamzat.
In total, the APC is uploading the details of 28 governorship candidates and 993 State House of Assembly candidatesacross the country.
To ensure a smooth and error-free process, the party has also constituted a vetting committee headed by Jibrin Bancir, Principal Private Secretary to the APC National Chairman, to oversee the exercise.
The development comes as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections ahead of INEC’s statutory deadline.
