The Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) has called on state governments to implement the new minimum pension scheme in line with the Federal Government’s policy to improve the welfare of retirees across the country.
Speaking after the North-West zonal stakeholders’ meeting in Kano, the union’s North-West Zonal Vice Chairman, Comrade Salisu Ahmad Gwale, commended states that have cleared pension arrears and praised the Zamfara State Government for implementing the ₦32,000 minimum pension. He also lauded Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for settling over ₦32 billion in outstanding pension liabilities, urging other states to emulate the initiatives to ease the hardship faced by pensioners.
