The death toll from a ferry fire in the Philippines has risen to 76 after 41 additional bodies were recovered from the burnt-out vessel on Saturday.
Philippine Coast Guard spokeswoman Commodore Noemie Cayabyab said the recovered remains would be transported to a port in Coron, Palawan, as authorities continue efforts to identify the victims and account for those affected by the disaster.
The fire broke out on Wednesday aboard the M/V June Aster, triggering a major rescue and recovery operation. The incident has left families and authorities awaiting further information as the full scale of the tragedy becomes clearer.
Earlier on Saturday, disaster agency workers were seen moving coffins to a cemetery in the resort town of Coron, where victims of the ferry fire were scheduled to be temporarily buried.
