The Airport Police Command intercepted a 14-year-old suspected stowaway at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos. The minor was discovered attempting to unlawfully access the underside of an aircraft, breaching aviation security protocols.
According to ASP Mohammed Adeola, Police PRO, preliminary investigations revealed the juvenile had entered a restricted area without authorization, violating Sections 2 and 3 of the FAAN bye-laws.
The minor was taken into protective custody, with parents notified and interviews conducted in their presence. The Command ensured proper care and welfare support, in line with child protection procedures.
CP Ogunbode Olufunke, Commissioner of Police, Airport Police Command, emphasized the commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s aviation infrastructure and urged parents to monitor their children around high-risk areas like airports.
The case will proceed under juvenile justice procedures before the appropriate court.
