The Nigeria Police Force on Monday held a memorial service at its Force Headquarters in Abuja in honour of 10 officers of the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) killed during an encounter with suspected bandits in Kebbi State.
According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, the officers were killed on August 10 along the Rafin Makuku axis of Sakaba Local Government Area while confronting a heavily armed group of bandits operating between Zamfara and Kebbi states.
The Force said the officers fought bravely in defence of lives and national security, inflicting significant losses on the attackers before making the ultimate sacrifice.
The memorial service was held to honour their courage, service and commitment to protecting Nigerians.
