The Lagos State Police Command has intercepted a truck carrying 47 sacks of military camouflage uniforms and 80 cartons of suspected illicit substances in a major intelligence-led operation along the Lekki-Epe axis of Lagos State.
Speaking at the command headquarters in Ikeja, the Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, said the truck was allegedly transporting the military uniforms from Lagos to a destination in the South-East.
According to the police commissioner, the operation was carried out by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit following actionable intelligence on the movement of the items.
Fatai disclosed that four suspects were arrested during the operation and are currently assisting investigators in efforts to identify and apprehend those behind the importation and distribution network.
He added that cartons of suspected illicit substances were also found in the vehicle alongside the military camouflage uniforms.
The commissioner noted that investigations are ongoing to determine the intended use of the items and uncover all individuals connected to the operation.
He expressed concern over the misuse of military uniforms by criminal elements, stating that security agencies are committed to preventing such materials from falling into the wrong hands.
