The Nigeria Police Force has paraded four suspects allegedly linked to an organ harvesting and human trafficking syndicate operating in Nasarawa State.
The suspects are 23-year-old Emmanuel Ode; Dr Benjamin Oyime, 48, a nephrologist and consultant at Wellington Hospital, Life Camp, Abuja; Dr Daniel Otukpa, 53, also a nephrologist and Acting Director of Clinical Services at the hospital; and 25-year-old David Idoko.
According to the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, the suspects were arrested by operatives of the Special Tactical Squad during a sting operation at Auta Balifi in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State on August 19, 2026.
Police alleged that Ode recruited vulnerable individuals under false pretences, with investigators linking the syndicate to cases in which victims were allegedly subjected to illegal kidney harvesting.
The police said the suspects allegedly exploited the financial difficulties of vulnerable and uneducated young people to obtain consent for the procedures.
Investigators also alleged that official documents, including National Identification Numbers, birth certificates, affidavits and consent letters, were forged to facilitate the activities.
The police said investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest other individuals allegedly connected to the syndicate, while reaffirming its commitment to dismantling human trafficking and illegal organ harvesting networks across the country.
