The Nigeria Police Force has recovered 285 pieces of vandalised Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) pipelines and arrested seven suspected members of a pipeline vandalism syndicate during a coordinated operation in Adamawa State.
According to a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu, the operation was launched following credible intelligence received on July 9. Acting on the information, police officers intercepted a J5 bus transporting suspected vandalised pipelines along the Yola–Numan Road, leading to the arrest of the suspects.
Subsequent investigations and searches led to the recovery of the vandalised pipelines, six gas cylinders, diggers, shovels, the J5 bus used in the operation, and other equipment believed to have been used in carrying out the illegal activities.
The seven suspects remain in police custody, while investigations continue to uncover the full extent of the alleged vandalism network and identify other accomplices.
The Police said the operation underscores its commitment to protecting critical national infrastructure and combating economic sabotage under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
The Force also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing efforts to safeguard national assets and curb criminal activities across the country.
