The Nigeria Police Force has rescued two Colombian nationals allegedly trafficked to Nigeria and held captive by a suspected human trafficking syndicate in Lagos.
Operatives of the National Central Bureau (NCB-INTERPOL), Lagos Annex, acted on intelligence from INTERPOL-NCB Bogotá on August 26, 2026, and located the victims at a hideout in Lagos the same day.
The victims, identified as Maria Camila Rodas Ortiz and Yuliet Fernanda Rios Mesa, were allegedly lured to Nigeria, detained against their will and had their travel documents confiscated.
Police say the suspects, reportedly Chinese nationals, fled the scene before the operatives arrived. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend all members of the syndicate.
The rescued women are receiving necessary support, while arrangements are underway for their safe return to Colombia.
