The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, has stated that President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda has significantly transformed Nigeria’s healthcare sector, particularly by making cancer treatment accessible within the country.
Idris made this known on Thursday during a courtesy visit to the Governor of Enugu State, Mr. Peter Mbah, in Enugu.
He explained that the visit was part of an effort to showcase the achievements of the Federal Government, noting that his entire media team had been brought to Enugu to document and report on the positive impact of both federal and state initiatives.
“President Tinubu has performed so remarkably that one might assume he is already in his second term,” the minister remarked.
Commending Governor Mbah’s efforts, Idris described Enugu as the “heart of the South-East” and praised the state’s developmental strides.
“We are here to highlight that President Tinubu is delivering on his promises, and to see firsthand the progress his policies are making across the region,” he added.
According to the minister, the Renewed Hope Agenda has led to a revolution in the health sector, with advanced cancer treatment facilities now available in Nigeria.
“Six cancer treatment centres have been established across the six geopolitical zones, including one in Enugu. These centres are equipped with state-of-the-art machines comparable to those abroad, and medical personnel have been trained to operate them,” he said.
He emphasized that Nigerians now have the option to receive cancer treatment locally, and that seeking care abroad is now a matter of personal preference—not due to a lack of domestic capacity.
“We must give credit to President Tinubu for assembling a capable team that has begun to revamp the health sector,” Idris stated.
The minister also highlighted improvements in national security, crediting the administration’s efforts to foster greater collaboration among security agencies.
While acknowledging that challenges remain, he assured that the President is committed to continuing reforms and delivering progress across all sectors.
