Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed the values of courage, resilience, self-belief and determination as key drivers of Lagos’ development, describing them as the enduring “Lagos Spirit.”
Sanwo-Olu stated this while joining members of the Yoruba Tennis Club to commemorate the club’s 100th anniversary. He noted that these values have shaped Lagos for generations and continue to influence the state’s democratic journey and approach to governance.
The Governor said his administration, over the last seven years, has built on the achievements of previous administrations through the THEMES+ agenda, with investments spanning transportation, healthcare, education, technology, food security and economic development.
He stressed that the true measure of governance is its impact on the daily lives of residents, citing improved access to transportation, educational resources and safer movement of goods as examples of how government policies should translate into better living conditions.
Sanwo-Olu also called for continuity in governance, saying progress should be driven by better ideas and measurable results rather than change for its own sake. He challenged the opposition to present Lagosians with ideas capable of matching or surpassing what has already been achieved, describing competition based on ideas, results and the future as essential to a healthy democracy.
