Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has strongly condemned the vandalism of the Festac-Alakija Bridge, describing the act as barbaric, criminal and unacceptable.
The Governor directed security agencies to identify, apprehend and prosecute those responsible for the attack on the critical infrastructure, stressing that the state will not tolerate acts of vandalism.
According to Governor Sanwo-Olu, officials from the Office of Infrastructure who inspected the bridge have confirmed that its structural integrity remains intact. He, however, noted that remedial works will commence immediately to protect the affected bridge columns and prevent further damage.
The Governor warned that anyone found culpable would face the full weight of the law, reiterating the state’s commitment to safeguarding public infrastructure.
He also called on residents to remain vigilant and help protect public assets by reporting suspicious activities around critical infrastructure.
Sanwo-Olu emphasised that Lagos has no place for violence, vandalism or the destruction of public facilities, urging all Lagosians to work together in preserving infrastructure built for the benefit of everyone.
