Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has expressed gratitude over the successful rescue of the schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, describing their safe return as a moment of relief for their families and the nation.
In a statement, Governor Sanwo-Olu said the release of the victims brings comfort to their loved ones and to all Nigerians who prayed for their safe return after weeks in captivity.
The governor commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to strengthening security across the country and praised the efforts of the Nigerian Army, the Nigerian Air Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies for carrying out the successful rescue operation.
He lauded the courage, professionalism and dedication of the security personnel, noting that their coordinated efforts made the safe rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers possible.
Governor Sanwo-Olu also expressed solidarity with Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, the people of Oyo State, particularly the Ogbomoso community, and the families of the victims, acknowledging the difficult weeks of uncertainty they endured.
He said the successful rescue renews hope and reinforces confidence that through sustained collaboration among governments, security agencies and citizens, Nigeria can overcome its security challenges and ensure the safety of lives and property.
